Many years ago, I'd never guess I'd be here,
watching my girl grow,
I never thought I would get the chance to know.

Life, people say there are butterflies,
yet to us,
there are the dragonflies,
playing as if they are dragons,
and we are the knights fighting for the princess.

You would never guess,
what becomes of a child's imagination,
or that the simplest bug can become the fiercest dragon in all of creation.
She saw fireflies, as lights to heaven,
and ladybugs as the ladies of her court,
she was the princess,
and that was her world.

Dragonflies, pixie dust, dreams and wishes,
all belong in the imagination,
yet sometimes the best place,
is the companion in which we create them.

Time goes on and your little girl grows,
but by instilling the dragons,
you give her dreams,
that only she will ever know.

A summer of dragonflies,
a night of fireflies,
a moment of laughter,
and finally a dream for the thereafter.
